Dermatology is a medical specialty concerned with the skin and skin-related disorders. Common skin disorders include acne, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, wrinkles, bedsores, and rosacea. Most people are affected by a skin disorder at some point in their lives. Acne, for instance, affects 80% of people between the ages of 11 and 30, and 31.6 million people in the U.S. are diagnosed with eczema.
Skin disorders can affect people of all ages, although acne is more common in teenagers than adults, while wrinkles are more common in older adults, as are bedsores. (Bedsores are a dermatological issue common in people who cannot move on their own.)
Artemis Institute for Clinical Research conducts clinical trials of investigative medications for the treatment of various skin disorders. Qualified adults participating in a trial may be eligible to receive financial compensation for time and travel, study-related medical and psychological evaluations, and the investigative study medication at no cost.
