Dr. Vishaal Mehra attended Texas A&M Health Science Center for his Medical Degree, and then completed his residency in Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. He worked in a variety of clinical Psychiatric settings prior to beginning his career as an Investigator in clinical research in 2007. As a Principal Investigator, his main areas of expertise include Schizophrenia, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and Opiate Addiction. Additionally, Dr. Mehra has worked closely with Sponsors and CROs to promote study-wide trial success, acting as a liaison for other Principal Investigators and the sponsor for several trials. Dr. Vishaal Mehra founded Artemis Institute for Clinical Research in 2008.

Dr. Purvi Mehra attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for her Medical Degree. After completing her residency in Internal Medicine at Scripps Mercy, Dr. Mehra went on to complete a fellowship in Allergy/Immunology at Scripps Clinic. She has been a Clinical Investigator since 2004. Her work has been published in numerous peer reviewed journals including the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Mehra’s areas of research expertise include Osteoarthritis, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, and Vaccine development. She joined the Artemis Research team in 2013.

Dr. Layle attended Wayne State University School of Medicine for her Medical Degree, and completed her residency in Family Medicine at the Naval Hospital Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida. She then served as a Medical Officer in the U.S. Navy for 8 years where she cared for Navy and Marine Corps active duty and dependents across the world. She returned to civilian practice working in a variety of primary care clinical settings prior to beginning her career in clinical research. As a Principal Investigator, her main areas of research expertise include Osteoarthritis, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, and Gastrointestinal illnesses. Dr. Layle joined the Artemis Research team in 2012.
Principal Investigator/Riverside Site (Psychiatry/Neurology Division)

I wholeheartedly believe that appropriate subject selection and quality data are an integral part of developing cutting edge interventions. By developing new treatments, we can offer hope to those who find themselves challenged by these diagnoses. I am thrilled to be working with my colleagues here at Artemis who share my passion for conducting first-class clinical trials.”
Dr. Patrick received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Behavior from UC Irvine. She then attended Palo Alto University for her Ph.D., where she focused on the study of women with PTSD. She worked extensively with consumers who were chronically and severely mentally ill as she completed her predoctoral internship at the Riverside County Department of Mental Health Blaine Street Clinic. Dr. Patrick then went on to complete her fellowship at Alliant International University where she worked as adjunct faculty and presented papers focusing on the Rorschach scoring system at the national conference for the Society of Personality Assessment. After licensure, she worked as a centralized rater in Phase III psychiatric clinical trials for almost 6 years. Since 2015, she has worked as an Investigator in Phase I and II clinical CNS pharmaceutical trials. As a Principal Investigator, her main areas of research expertise include, Mood Disorders, Schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s Disease. Dr. Patrick joined the Artemis Research team in 2018.

I take pride in contributing to progress in the development of new medical treatments and in the evolution of technology in research.”
Dr. Chavez completed his undergraduate degree at Harvard University and his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. After medical school and service in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Chavez completed psychiatry residency at the University of California San Diego and subsequently earned a Master of Science degree in Medical Informatics at Northwestern University. His interests include addiction disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia, attention deficit disorder, pharmacogenomics, the application of technology in medicine, and medical information systems. Dr. Chavez joined the Artemis team in 2014.
“As the VP of Operations here at Artemis, my goal is to ensure that our patients have the best experience possible while they are at our sites. Driving operational excellence at each location, will ensure our patients’ experience is consistent across each location and that their visits are as efficient as possible. Ali attended Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business for her undergraduate studies in Marketing and International Business. She then attended the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business where she earned her MBA. Ali has worked in both the Operations and Technology fields for over 15 years for publicly traded, privately owned, and private equity owned companies in San Diego. She most recently held an executive leadership position at Cali Bamboo where she was responsible for the Technology and Customer experience strategies at one of the fastest growing companies in the United States. In 2019, Ali was the honoree of San Diego Business Journal’s Top Technology Executive award. She joined the Artemis Research team in 2019.
